5m LED strips

5m LED strips

Five meters is the standard length of an LED strip: enough for a kitchen wall, a ceiling cove in a small room or a row of cabinets, and easy to cut to size. Choose a loose reel if you pick the power supply and connection yourself, or a plug & play set that plugs straight into the socket. In COB and SMD, 12V and 24V, white and RGB.

What 5 meters of LED strip is enough for

  • Task light under the wall cabinets of an average kitchen.
  • A ceiling cove along one or two walls.
  • A row of bookcases or display cabinets.
  • A glow behind a TV unit, bed or sofa.

Loose reel or complete set?

  • Loose reel: you choose the power supply, connectors and optionally a controller. Handy if you join several pieces or already have a power supply.
  • Plug & play set: strip, plug-in adapter and connector in one box. Click the connector onto the strip and plug it into the socket. See the LED strip sets.

Which 5m strip do you choose?

  • COB 24V: even line without dots, CRI 90+, 800 to 1,000 lumens per meter. See the COB LED strips.
  • SMD 12V or 24V: 480 to 1,920 lumens per meter, efficient and versatile.
  • RGB, RGBW and RGB+CCT: color and white. See the RGB LED strips.
  • IP65: for the bathroom, the kitchen next to the sink and outdoors under a roof. See the waterproof LED strips.

The right power supply for 5 meters

Watts per meter × 5 ÷ 0.8. Examples: 5 meters at 4.8 W/m = 24 W, so at least 30 W. 5 meters at 10 W/m = 50 W, so at least 63 W, for example 72 W. See the LED strip power supplies.

Frequently asked questions about 5m LED strips

Can I shorten a 5m strip?

Yes, at the marked cut points, every 5 centimeters on COB. You can use the offcut elsewhere with a connector and cable.

Can I join two 5m reels?

Yes, with a strip-to-strip connector. At 24V, 10 meters from one feed point usually stays even; at 12V, feed the second reel separately.

Need more than 5 meters?

See the 10m LED strips, or for tens of meters the 230V LED strips.
