Outdoor LED strips

Outdoor LED strips

Light up your facade, terrace or garden path with a clean line of light that catches the eye as soon as it gets dark. An outdoor LED strip has an IP65 coating against rain, dust and splashing water and fits along roof edges, under canopies and carports, and along stairs and terrace edges. Choose a 24V strip for short runs and a 230V strip for long runs up to 50 meters on a single plug, in warm white or in color.

Where an LED strip makes the difference outdoors

  • Facade and roof edge: a continuous contour line that gives your home, shop or business building a crisp look at night.
  • Terrace and veranda: a warm glow along the edge or under the roof, for long summer evenings outside.
  • Stairs and garden paths: light along steps and edges so you walk safely, and it looks great in the evening.
  • Carports and canopies: functional light from above, protected from direct rain.
  • Warehouses and greenhouses: long lines of light in damp commercial spaces.

24V or 230V outdoors?

  • 24V IP65: thinner and finer to cut, for runs up to about 10 meters per feed point. Safe to touch, so also for stairs and terraces. Place the power supply indoors or choose a waterproof power supply. See the 24V LED strips.
  • 230V IP65: up to 50 meters on a single plug, no power supply, cuttable per meter. For facades, roof edges and long canopies. Have the connection made by a qualified electrician and use a circuit with an RCD. See the 230V LED strips.

Keeping an outdoor LED strip looking good

  • Mount the strip under a roof or in an aluminum profile with a diffuser. IP65 protects against rain and splashing water, not against standing water or immersion.
  • Let water drain away: do not mount it in a gutter or tray where water collects.
  • Seal every cut end with an end cap and use waterproof connectors.
  • Place the power supply of a 12V or 24V strip indoors or choose an IP67 power supply. See the LED strip power supplies.
  • Our strips work down to -20 °C. The maximum ambient temperature is listed per product.

Warm white or color?

For facades, terraces and gardens you usually choose 3000K warm white: soft and inviting. For carports and work areas, 4000K. With an RGB LED strip you bathe a building or terrace in color, controlled with a remote or app.

Frequently asked questions about outdoor LED strips

Can an LED strip be exposed to rain?

An IP65 strip can handle rain and splashing water. For the longest life, mount it under a roof or in a profile.

Can an LED strip go in the ground or under water?

No. That requires IP68. Our outdoor strips are rated IP65.

Which LED strip for a long facade?

A 230V strip: up to 50 meters on a single plug, no power supplies, and extendable with couplers.

Can I dim an outdoor LED strip or control it with an app?

Yes. 24V strips are controlled with a dimmer or controller, also via a remote or app. See the dimmers and controllers.

Do you supply larger projects?

Yes. Volume pricing applies to larger quantities, and for projects we prepare a custom quote. See also the waterproof LED strips.
