Which 548 mm T5 LED tube should you choose?

All tubes have the same length and G5 cap; the difference is how much light you get per watt.

  • 140 lm/W, 1,260 lumens: the affordable replacement with as much light as the fluorescent tube.
  • 170 lm/W, 1,530 lumens: more light for the same consumption, for offices, shops and corridors.

Frequently asked questions about 548 mm T5 LED tubes

Will this LED tube fit my T5 fitting?

Yes, if the fitting has G5 lampholders and is made for 549 mm tubes. A T5 fitting always uses an electronic ballast and has no starter. That ballast must be taken out of the circuit: connect live and neutral to the lampholder at one end and fit the tube with its marked supply end there. LED tube installation guide

Which T5 fluorescent tube does it replace?

The 549 mm, 14W T5 fluorescent tube. Together with its ballast it uses more than its rated wattage; the 9W LED tube needs no ballast, so you save up to around 40 percent.

Is the tube dimmable?

No. Do not connect the tube to a dimmer or a dimmable ballast.

What is the difference between T5 and T8?

T5 is thinner with a G5 cap and small pins; T8 is 26 mm thick with a G13 cap. The lengths differ too, so they are not interchangeable. The T8 equivalent of this length is 60 cm.

How long does a T5 LED tube last?

They are designed for 50,000 operating hours, more than 13 years at 10 hours a day. A standard T5 fluorescent tube lasts around 20,000 hours. All tubes come with a 5-year warranty.

Do you supply for projects?

Yes. Volume pricing applies to larger quantities and business customers can buy on invoice. Request a quote and we will be happy to work out the numbers with you.
