Waterproof LED strips

Waterproof LED strips

Light around the bathroom mirror, along the kitchen sink or under the carport: wherever there is moisture, choose a waterproof LED strip. A silicone coating protects the LEDs from dust, moisture and splashing water. Our waterproof strips are rated IP65 and come as COB and SMD at 12V and 24V, and as 230V strips up to 50 meters on a single plug.

Where a waterproof LED strip belongs

  • Bathroom: a line of light around the mirror, in a niche or along the ceiling gives the bathroom a calm, upscale look. See the LED strips for bathrooms.
  • Kitchen: task light above and next to the sink, where splashes are normal.
  • Outdoors under a roof: carports, canopies, verandas and terraces. See the outdoor LED strips.
  • Commercial spaces: warehouses, car washes and greenhouses with high humidity.

What do IP65, IP67 and IP68 mean?

The IP rating shows how well a product is protected. The first digit is about dust, the second about water.

  • IP20: no protection against water. For dry indoor spaces only.
  • IP65: dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. Suitable for bathrooms, kitchens and outdoors under a roof.
  • IP67: protected against temporary immersion.
  • IP68: suitable for prolonged immersion, such as in fountains and ponds.

Our waterproof LED strips are rated IP65. They are therefore not intended for use under water or in places where water collects.

Which waterproof LED strip do you choose?

  • COB 24V IP65: even line without dots, CRI 90+, in white, CCT, RGB and RGB+CCT. Cuttable every 2 centimeters.
  • SMD2835 and SMD5050 IP65, 12V or 24V: 480 to 1,200 lumens per meter, also in RGB.
  • 230V IP65: up to 50 meters on a single plug, cuttable per meter, for warehouses, greenhouses, facades and canopies. See the 230V LED strips.

Make the power supply and connections waterproof too

A waterproof strip is only as waterproof as its weakest point. So pay attention to:

  • The power supply: place a standard power supply indoors or in a dry cabinet, or choose a waterproof IP67 power supply. See the LED strip power supplies.
  • Connections: use IP65 connectors and seal every cut end with an end cap. See the LED strip connectors.
  • The surface: mount the strip on a clean, dry surface or in an aluminum profile.

Frequently asked questions about waterproof LED strips

Can an IP65 LED strip go in the bathroom?

Yes, outside the direct spray of the shower. In the bathroom, choose a 12V or 24V strip and place the power supply outside the wet zone.

Can a waterproof LED strip be used outdoors?

Yes, under a roof, in a profile or in a place where water can drain away.

Can I shorten a waterproof strip?

Yes, at the cut points: the COB IP65 every 2 centimeters, the 230V strips per meter. Seal the cut end with an end cap or silicone, otherwise the strip is no longer waterproof at that point.

Is a waterproof strip dimmable too?

Yes, just like a standard strip: with an LED strip dimmer or controller at 12V and 24V, and with a 230V strip dimmer at 230V.
