Warm white LED strips

Warm white LED strips

Warm white light makes every room soft and inviting. A line of light in the ceiling cove of the living room, behind the headboard in the bedroom or under the kitchen cabinets gives calm light to unwind in. Choose 2700K for a cozy atmosphere or 3000K for warm light that is still bright enough to work by. Also the color temperature of choice for hospitality, hotels and shops.

Where warm white comes into its own

  • Living room: a glow along the ceiling or behind the TV wall makes the room calm and cozy in the evening, without harsh light from above.
  • Bedroom: soft light behind the headboard or under the bed, dimmed to a glow to fall asleep by.
  • Kitchen: warm light under the cabinets that is bright enough to cook by. See the LED strips for kitchens.
  • Bathroom: a line around the mirror or in a niche, with a waterproof strip. See the LED strips for bathrooms.
  • Hospitality, hotels and shops: the color temperature that makes guests stay, along the bar, in the lounge or on the shelves.

Which color temperature is warm white?

Color temperature is expressed in kelvin (K). The lower the number, the warmer and more yellow the light.

  • 2200K to 2400K, extra warm white: a soft glow like an incandescent bulb, for atmosphere in lounges and bedrooms.
  • 2700K, warm white: cozy light for living rooms and bedrooms, hotel rooms and restaurants.
  • 3000K, warm white: warm but bright. The most popular choice for kitchens, cabinets, shops and ceiling coves.
  • 4000K, neutral white: neutral light to work by, for offices and worktops.

Should the light change with the moment? Then choose a CCT strip, which lets you set the color temperature yourself. Read more on color temperature.

Why CRI 90 with warm white?

With warm light, low color rendering is noticed sooner: wood, skin and food can look dull. Our COB strips have a CRI of 90 or higher, so colors stay natural. See the COB LED strips.

Which warm white LED strip do you choose?

  • COB 24V, 8 or 10 W/m: even line without dots, CRI 90+, 800 to 1,000 lumens per meter. Also IP65.
  • SMD2835 12V or 24V: 480, 960 or 1,920 lumens per meter, efficient and versatile.
  • 230V Basic, Pro or Ultra: 3000K warm white up to 50 meters on a single plug, for long runs in hospitality, under canopies and along facades. See the 230V LED strips.

Dimming for atmosphere

Warm white light is at its best when you can dim it. 12V and 24V strips are dimmed with an LED strip dimmer or controller, with a remote, wall panel or app. A standard 230V wall dimmer does not work on a 12V or 24V strip. See the dimmers and controllers.

Frequently asked questions about warm white LED strips

Is 2700K or 3000K better?

2700K is warmer and cozier, 3000K slightly fresher and brighter. For living rooms and bedrooms you usually choose 2700K, for kitchens, cabinets and shops 3000K. Use the same color temperature throughout a room.

Is warm white suitable for a kitchen?

Yes, 3000K is a good choice under kitchen cabinets: warm but bright enough to work by. Choose a strip with CRI 90+ so food looks natural.

Can warm white be combined with color?

Yes, with an RGBW strip with a warm white channel or an RGB+CCT strip. See the RGB LED strips.

How many lumens do I need?

For ambient and accent lighting 400 to 800 lumens per meter is enough, for task lighting under cabinets 800 to 1,000 lumens per meter or more.
