How to Convert a Fluorescent Fixture to LED

Be careful when removing the starter and the ballast. (These may be live)

  1. Turn off the electricity at the circuit breaker.
  2. Use a voltage tester if necessary to check that the electricity is indeed off.
  3. Remove the old fluorescent lighting from the fixture.
  4. Remove the starter (if present).
  5. Remove the ballast.
  6. Move the phase wire and the neutral wire to one side of the fixture.
  7. Insert the LED tube into the fixture. Ensure that the L and N inputs are on the side of the fixture that is connected to the power.
  8. Turn the electricity back on.

What is G13?

G13 is the socket standard used for T8 tubes. It is a bipin socket with two pins on each side of the tube. The distance between the pins is 13 mm, hence the name G13.
